The Bar
Have you ever wondered how that process running on your computer was progressing while you were watching television?
Or maybe your computer is showing a progress bar that provides little information and that does not indicate the remaining time.
Now you can take the progress bar with you!
Meet “THE BAR” (http://thebar.goalmoon.com)
It is a very simple two-step process, in which you capture the progress bar at different moments and indicate its positions on the application screen.
The software then calculates:
- The time when the process began.
- The expected finish time.
- The total duration.
- The elapsed time.
- The remaining time.
- The percentage of the process.
Note to iPod touch users: READ CAREFULY ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS. IPOD TOUCH DOESN’T HAVE PHOTO CAMERA. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO USE THE SOFTWARE WITH IPOD TOUCH.
The Bar has an exclusive video on Youtube! You can watch it in action at:
It is designed to offer a practical way to use your iPhone to monitor your processes, with the following features:
- Simple and intuitive interface.
- Data persistence, which means that at each stage your
data is stored. Even a possible incoming call does not interrupt the process. You can also exit the application and return at any moment; the process will continue as if it was running in the background.*
- Recalibration ensures that even processes that do not have a constant speed may be updated.
- Help information on all screens with detailed step-by-step instructions of each stage.
* The application does not run in the background, but due to persistent processes, it can update the data immediately upon restarting the application.
NOTE: The only option for iPod touch users is to search the images from the photo albums. You can use “Print Screen” to capture two screens at different times in the process and then connect the device to the computer via a USB port and copy the images to the photo album of the iPod touch.
IMPORTANT: The values shown on the “Results” screen are mere estimates regarding the capture dates and the size of the progress bars, in accordance with the indications mentioned by the user in the previous steps.
Differences may occur between the calculated values and the real times, depending on the variation in the speed of the original process.
The software aims to provide purely illustrative information. Under no circumstances should it be used as the main instrument in measurements for monitoring the process.
